Intellectica is recruiting an experienced Accounting Supervisor on behalf of a leading company in the defense technology sector and a subsidiary of a prominent industrial group. Based in Attiki, Greece and reporting directly to the COO of the company, the successful candidate shall be managing accounting entries, ensuring the firm is in compliance with relevant accounting and tax filing requirements, and supporting the firm’s financial operation, contributing to the company’s continued success.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Overseeing accounting entries, ensuring compliance with Greek GAAP and IFRS, while maintaining accurate financial records
  • Ensuring strong tax compliance, managing VAT, corporate tax filings, and other tax obligations while liaising with tax authorities and advisors
  • Supervising and reviewing financial transactions, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes
  • Preparing and presenting accurate financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and variance analyses, to support C-level decision-making
  • Managing the transition project to a new ERP system, ensuring smooth implementation and customization
  • Coordinating with external auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions to proactively address compliance requirements and optimize financial workflows
  • Managing cash flow and liquidity to ensure the company meets its financial obligations and operates smoothly
  • Monitoring and controlling financial operations, identify cost-saving opportunities, and maintain strong financial discipline
  • Participating in the preparation and review of budgets and forecasts, and analyzing performance against targets
  • Supervising payroll to ensure all employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Leading the accounting team and ensuring effective collaboration and productivity
  • Any other task that may be required from time to time

Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; advanced qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CFA, CPA)
  • A master’s degree in Accounting & Finance is considered a plus
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably within a heavy industry environment
  • Holder of a Class A’ Accountant certification is considered a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Greek GAAP and tax regulations and IFRS
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Fluency in Greek and English
