Intellectica is recruiting a highly skilled Chief Financial Officer on behalf of its client, a dynamic, fast-growing maritime investment and operations group with global reach. Operating across shipping, energy, and maritime asset management sectors through a series of entities, the group is known for its ambitious growth strategy, entrepreneurial leadership, and capital markets activity. The company is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to support its CEO and Board in managing financial operations, strategic investments, and capital structuring across a complex international portfolio. Based in Metamorfosi, Attiki, Greece and reporting directly to the Group CEO, the successful candidate will serve as a senior financial leader and strategic partner, supporting Board-level tasks and contributing to decision-making across listed and private entities.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Lead strategic financial planning, forecasting, and capital allocation across the group’s maritime and energy-related operations.
  • Develop and execute complex financing structures including shipping debt, sale-leasebacks, convertible instruments, and syndicated equity placements.
  • Manage public company reporting and investor relations in coordination with external advisors and stock exchange requirements.
  • Lead financial aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures across shipping and adjacent sectors.
  • Support the CEO and BoD in strategic capital markets initiatives, including IPOs, spin-offs, and equity/debt issuance strategies.
  • Ensure strong liquidity and working capital oversight across diversified shipping and energy subsidiaries.
  • Oversee audit processes, tax structuring, internal controls, and financial risk management across jurisdictions.
  • Build and manage relationships with banks, institutional investors, legal firms, and regulatory authorities.
  • Supervise and mentor an internal and external finance team across multiple geographies and corporate entities.
  • Represent the CEO and act as a delegate in high-stakes financial negotiations, Board-level presentations, and investor forums.
  • Any other task that may be required from time to time

Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MSc or MBA preferred
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership in corporate finance, with at least 5 years in CFO or similar roles in maritime, shipping, or investment firms
  • Proven experience in shipping finance, capital markets, and corporate transactions (IPOs, spin-offs, restructurings)
  • Track record of executing structured debt and equity deals in the maritime or industrial sector
  • Familiarity with SEC reporting and capital markets compliance for NASDAQ or other listed entities
  • Strong knowledge of shipping operations, vessel economics, and global financing frameworks
  • Skilled in Excel modeling, ERP systems, and financial planning tools
  • Fluent in English and ideally Greek; strong written and presentation skills
