Intellectica is recruiting a Junior Financial Controller on behalf of the Marine & Ship Management division of its client, a leading provider of specialized engineering solutions for subsea cable installation and offshore energy infrastructure. Known for its commitment to technical excellence, operational reliability, and client-focused delivery, the company is expanding its project team to support a growing pipeline of complex international projects. Based in Attiki, Greece and reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with both the internal accounting team and operations teams to support the financial oversight of vessel operations and supplier management, and broader financial planning and reporting activities.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Coordinate and process monthly crew payments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contractual terms and maritime regulations
  • Manage accounts payable for vessel-related suppliers, including invoice verification, payment scheduling, and reconciliation of vendor statements
  • Record, monitor, and reconcile financial transactions related to vessel operations using the MGA platform
  • Prepare detailed cost reports for individual vessels, tracking expenses across categories such as crew, maintenance, port charges, and fuel
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, ensuring completeness and accuracy of vessel-related data
  • Support budget tracking and variance analysis, identifying discrepancies and contributing to cost control efforts
  • Provide documentation and financial data during internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards
  • Assist the CFO in budgeting, forecasting, and broader financial planning activities
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial reports and performance summaries for senior management
  • Participate in the implementation and enhancement of financial systems, tools, and process improvements
  • Any other task that may be required from time to time

Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Shipping Finance, or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g. ACCA, CFA) is a plus
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in financial control, accounting, or marine operations finance
  • Prior exposure to the maritime, shipping, or offshore energy sectors is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of financial processes including cost reporting, supplier management, and payment workflows
  • Good knowledge of vessel operations and the financial implications of their cost structures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP systems is an advantage
  • Fluency in Greek and English, both written and spoken
