Intellectica is recruiting a Senior Energy Trader on behalf of its client, a leading energy group with over 20 years of expertise in electricity generation and supply from Renewable Energy Sources. Based in Athens, Greece, and reporting directly to the Head of Trading, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping trading strategies and ensuring optimal performance in a dynamic energy market. This position is critical for maximizing profitability, managing risk exposure, and sustaining the organization’s competitive advantage across European energy markets.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Shape and execute trading strategies for electricity and gas across European markets, ensuring alignment with business objectives and risk management policies
  • Lead trading activities for RES Aggregation portfolios, optimizing performance and profitability
  • Analyze market trends, price dynamics, and regulatory developments to identify and capitalize on profitable opportunities
  • Optimize trading positions and portfolio performance, balancing risk and return in a fast-moving environment
  • Develop and refine analytical tools and forecasting models to enhance decision-making and trading efficiency
  • Execute trades and maintain strong relationships with brokers, counterparties, exchanges, and auction platforms to secure competitive market access
  • Deliver accurate and timely performance reporting, including PnL statements, KPIs, and cash flow monitoring
  • Ensure full compliance and integrity in transaction settlement, overseeing financial verification and operational accuracy
  • Collaborate across internal teams to align trading activities with broader business goals and market developments
  • Any other task that may be required from time to time

Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Master’s degree in Economics or Energy is considered an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in energy trading or energy market analysis
  • Trader certifications (HenEx – Spot/Derivatives/Gas, EEX) are desirable
  • Proven track record in executing trades and managing risk in dynamic market environments
  • Hands-on experience with RES Aggregation portfolios and familiarity with renewable energy trading mechanisms
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, and a strong background in data analysis or machine learning is a plus
  • Excellent command of English and Greek, both written and spoken
