Intellectica is recruiting a Risk Associate (Market & Counterparty Credit) on behalf of its client, an HCMC-licensed financial institution specialising in electronic market making and liquidity provision exclusively in Exchange Traded Products. Based in Athens, the Risk Associate will join an expanding Risk function, working closely with trading and technology teams to monitor market and counterparty credit risk in real time, strengthen controls, and enhance the tools and processes that protect trading performance. Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Monitor market and counterparty credit risk exposures arising from trading activity in real time, ensuring adherence to approved risk limits and escalation protocols
  • Analyse trading positions, sensitivities, and performance drivers, proactively identifying emerging risk concentrations and potential vulnerabilities
  • Conduct counterparty credit analysis and exposure assessments, ensuring credit limits remain within approved tolerances
  • Perform stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate the impact of adverse market movements on P&L, liquidity, and capital utilisation
  • Collaborate with traders and quantitative teams to assess the risk implications of new strategies, instruments, and market expansions
  • Enhance and refine risk monitoring processes, systems, and reporting tools, improving efficiency, automation, and transparency
  • Contribute to the development and ongoing enhancement of risk management policies and control frameworks aligned with trading strategy and regulatory standards
  • Prepare clear, data-driven risk reports and insights for senior management and relevant stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making
  • Support strategic risk initiatives and analytical projects led by the Chief Risk Officer, contributing to the continuous strengthening of the risk function
  • Contribute to maintaining a robust risk governance framework in line with internal standards and external regulatory requirements
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required in line with business and risk function priorities

Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in risk management, with hands-on exposure to market risk and/or counterparty credit risk
  • Experience in trading environments is essential; exposure to electronic or algorithmic trading is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of market risk concepts and financial instruments; familiarity with listed products/ETPs is a plus
  • Programming capability (Python, R, or Excel VBA) will be considered a strong asset
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg MARS/PORT or similar risk platforms is advantageous
  • Ability to operate effectively in real-time environments, combining analytical depth with sound judgement under pressure
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally as part of the role’s development and collaboration framework
  • Military obligations fulfilled (if applicable)
