Intellectica is recruiting a Backend Software Engineer on behalf of its client, an innovative and fast-scaling technology company focused on developing advanced software solutions. Driven by a clear long-term vision and strong technical leadership, the organization is building a high-performing engineering team to design and deliver robust, scalable web applications. Based in Attiki, Greece, and reporting directly to the CTO, the ideal candidate will take a leading role in developing sophisticated web solutions, influencing architectural decisions, and contributing to the continuous evolution of the company’s software products.
Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:
- Lead the design and end-to-end delivery of scalable web applications, ensuring high performance, reliability, and maintainable architecture
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications leveraging PHP and the Laravel ecosystem
- Design and implement robust RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services and external systems
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues while optimizing application performance, scalability, and reliability
- Contribute to code reviews, promoting high engineering standards, code quality, and maintainable architecture
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (product, design, and engineering) to deliver efficient and reliable digital solutions
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including development workflows, code updates, and deployment procedures
- Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices, proactively contributing to continuous improvement of development processes
- Any other task that may be required from time to time
Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field
- 2+ years of professional experience in PHP web development, including hands-on experience with Laravel in production environments (Laravel 10+ preferred)
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and modern PHP development practices
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and web services
- Good knowledge of relational databases, with MySQL considered a strong advantage
- Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Fluency in Greek and proficiency in English, both written and spoken
