Intellectica is recruiting a Chief Financial Officer on behalf of the Marine & Ship Management division of its client, a leading provider of specialized engineering solutions for subsea cable installation and offshore energy infrastructure. Known for its commitment to technical excellence, operational reliability, and client-focused delivery, the company is expanding its project team to support a growing pipeline of complex international projects. Based in Attiki, Greece and reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate shall play a critical role in leading the financial and commercial strategy of our Marine and Ship Management Division.
Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:
- Lead all financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the Marine & Ship Management Division
- Develop capital strategies for vessel acquisition, conversion, and long-term asset deployment
- Build and execute financing models for large marine asset investments, including lease/buy analysis and joint venture structures
- Manage relationships with financial institutions, shipyards, legal, and regulatory bodies
- Collaborate closely with technical and operations teams to optimize cost-efficiency across vessel operations, maintenance, and crewing
- Drive financial readiness and due diligence processes for potential IPO or capital raising events, ensuring alignment with regulatory and investor expectations
- Implement and maintain robust financial controls, compliance frameworks, and risk management systems
- Lead financial negotiations for contracts with charterers, suppliers, insurers, and other commercial partners
- Provide strategic insight and support for M&A or restructuring initiatives
- Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Board on maritime financial matters and long-term strategy
- Lead a team of Accounting & Finance executives, with in-house and outsourced members
- Any other task that may be required from time to time
Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering or related field; MSc degree and/or professional qualifications such as CPA, ACA, CFA, or MBA preferred
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, including as CFO, Finance Director, or VP Finance
- Strong background in the maritime, offshore construction, shipping, or energy infrastructure sectors is essential
- Demonstrated experience in vessel project finance, capital markets, and IPO readiness
- Deep knowledge of marine asset management, regulatory compliance, and international shipping finance practices
- Proven experience working with banks, private equity, and institutional investors in the maritime or offshore sector
- Familiarity with maritime operational economics including OPEX, CAPEX planning, crewing, and chartering dynamics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Fluency in Greek and English, both written and spoken
