Intellectica is recruiting an EHS Engineer on behalf of its client, a global leader in construction chemicals with a long-standing presence in Greece and strong growth momentum. The company operates with high safety standards, advanced supply chain processes and a commitment to operational excellence. The role is responsible for supporting workplace health and safety and environmental protection, contributing to the prevention of occupational and environmental risks, and ensuring smooth alignment with production, logistics, and commercial operations across the organization. Based in Attiki, the role reports directly to the EHS-QA Manager.
Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:
- Support the effective implementation and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices across all operations, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and internal policies
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices, ensuring full compliance with legal requirements and internal standards
- Conduct workplace inspections and safety audits across production, chemical storage, and logistics areas to identify hazards and ensure compliance
- Proactively identify risks and unsafe conditions, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and monitor their effective implementation
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of risk assessments (WORA) and environmental aspects identification
- Support the implementation and ongoing compliance of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems, including participation in incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Maintain and update HSE documentation, records, and reports, ensuring audit readiness and full traceability
- Supervise the proper use and availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and environmental protection measures
- Deliver effective safety training and translate technical requirements into clear, practical guidance for employees
- Communicate HSE standards and requirements clearly to employees, contractors, and visitors
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, R&D, and Logistics to embed HSE practices into daily operations
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and develop practical, cost-effective HSE solutions
- Prioritize safety-critical activities, manage multiple tasks effectively, and make sound decisions under pressure
- Any other task that may be required from time to time
Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
- 4+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing or industrial production environments
- Certified/licensed Safety Technician, in accordance with national legislation
- Solid knowledge of HSE legislation, including occupational safety, chemical handling, and PPE requirements
- Strong understanding of industrial safety practices, including LOTO, ATEX, and machine guarding
- Familiarity with industrial chemical safety standards and practices
- Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments (hazard identification, evaluation, and mitigation)
- Experience in incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone)
- Basic knowledge of emergency response procedures (evacuations, chemical spills, first aid)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Fluency in Greek and good command of English
