Intellectica is recruiting an ambitious Presales & Proposal Engineer on behalf of its client, a long-established engineering company operating in the high efficiency energy sector. With a strong heritage and exclusive collaborations with leading European manufacturers, the company designs, supplies, and supports advanced Combined Heat & Power (CHP) systems and integrated energy solutions. Its portfolio includes comprehensive engineering services, turnkey project delivery, and robust after sales support. Based in Athens, Greece and reporting directly to the Technical Director, the Presales & Proposal Engineer will play a pivotal role in the development of technical commercial proposals and will collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, and sales teams.
Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:
- Leading the preparation of complete technical and financial proposals, ensuring alignment with client requirements and engineering performance standards
- Analyzing client specifications, energy profiles, and site constraints to define optimal CHP system configurations
- Conducting preliminary engineering studies, including energy balances, performance simulations, techno-economic assessments, and equipment sizing
- Designing CHP system layouts and defining auxiliary systems (heat recovery, cooling systems, electrical integration, Balance of Plant)
- Preparing high-quality technical documentation for proposals, including technical descriptions, layouts, and single-line diagrams
- Coordinating with suppliers to obtain quotations, clarify technical specifications, and evaluate equipment options
- Identifying and assessing new suppliers and technology partners to strengthen solution competitiveness
- Developing CAPEX and OPEX estimates reflecting full lifecycle project costs
- Supporting the Sales team in client meetings and presentations by providing technical expertise and solution insights
- Collaborating closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Project Management teams to ensure smooth project handover
- Monitoring market trends, competitor activity, and developments in the CHP and distributed energy sector
- Undertaking any additional responsibilities as required
Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ideally), Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field
- 3–5 years of experience in presales, proposals, or technical‑commercial engineering roles, preferably within energy or electromechanical projects
- Previous involvement in CHP projects or energy‑generation systems is considered a strong advantage
- Genuine enthusiasm for thermodynamics and energy systems
- Proven capability in performing equipment sizing, energy calculations, and preliminary engineering studies
- Strong familiarity with technical specifications, engineering documentation, and contractual requirements
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Excellent command of MS Office especially Excel and Word
- Fluent in English and Greek, including technical terminology
