Intellectica is recruiting a WordPress Developer on behalf of its client, a fast-scaling technology and digital solutions company serving high-profile clients in the media sector. With a long-term strategic vision and strong leadership at the helm, the company is building a team of expert technologists and digital specialists to support media organisations in transforming their audience engagement, search visibility, and content performance through cutting-edge technology and data-driven marketing. Based in Athens, Greece, working in a hybrid work model and reporting directly to the CTO, the ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, performant web solutions while developing their technical expertise in a collaborative environment.
Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:
- Interpret project briefs to develop and maintain custom WordPress plugins and themes aligned with user needs
- Evaluate feature requests and implement functional enhancements for large-scale websites
- Write clean, efficient code by analysing complex technical problems and identifying optimal solutions
- Collaborate with senior developers to resolve architectural challenges and integrate best practices
- Debug and troubleshoot issues by diagnosing root causes and implementing effective fixes
- Analyse the full technology stack to deliver cohesive, end-to-end solutions that meet performance benchmarks
- Any other task that may be required from time to time
Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field
- 2-5 years of professional web development experience
- Proficiency in PHP and solid experience with WordPress plugin and theme development
- Knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3; TypeScript experience is desirable
- Familiarity with a modern JavaScript framework (Angular preferred)
- Good understanding of MySQL and relational database design
- Familiarity with Git for version control
- Experience with or willingness to learn supporting technologies like Jenkins, Redis, Elasticsearch, and Linux environments
- Fluency in Greek and proficiency in English, both written and spoken
