Intellectica is recruiting a dynamic Accounts Payable Assistant on behalf of a UK-based startup revolutionizing the recycling industry with data-driven AI. Backed by the most renowned ClimateTech investors in the US and the UK, Safi is on a mission to improve waste recovery rates and product quality. Based ideally in Greece or London with the ability to work remotely and reporting to the company’s Financial Controller, the successful candidate will support the establishment of a best in class finance and accounting function and own transactional accounting with focus on improving our current processes. This role is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant who would like to develop their accounting skills.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Assuming full responsibility for all Accounts Payable transactions
  • Acting as the primary contact for payables-related inquiries
  • Accurately processing a high volume of invoices
  • Reconciling supplier statements and maintaining an accurate purchase ledger
  • Resolving financial issues quickly to prevent payment delays
  • Executing multi-currency payment runs
  • Performing thorough bank reconciliations
  • Supporting Accounts Receivables tasks, including cash allocation and invoice adjustments
  • Managing finance mailbox and Slack channels for effective communication
  • Consistently meeting or exceeding set KPI targets
  • Enhancing current financial processes and systems
  • Addressing ad-hoc financial requests efficiently
  • Any other task that may be required from time to time

Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting & finance or related field; a Masters’ degree is considered a plus
  • Progress towards an accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA) is considered a plus
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Accounting & Finance
  • Background in start-up or fast-paced environments
  • Understanding of IFRS and issues tax is highly favored
  • Previous experience with Xero is preferred
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Fluent in English and Greek (both written and verbal)
