Intellectica is recruiting a Finance Associate on behalf of its client, a growing pharmaceutical trading company. Operating in a dynamic commercial environment, the company is focused on the ethical distribution of pharmaceutical products, with a lean but high-performing team of professionals. Based in Athens, Greece, the Finance Associate will report directly to the Managing Director and play a pivotal role in structuring and overseeing the company’s financial operations. This is a key position that combines financial execution with process design, reporting, and system optimization.
Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:
- Organizing and formalizing internal finance-related procedures (e.g., expense claims, approval flows) to ensure clarity, compliance, and ease of use across teams
- Acting as the primary point of contact with the external accounting office, ensuring smooth collaboration and timely, accurate financial processing
- Monitoring and reviewing day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations
- Managing supplier payments and overseeing the invoice approval process
- Developing and maintaining monthly financial reports, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements
- Designing and setting up robust internal reporting mechanisms that support commercial and strategic decision-making
- Assisting in budget preparation, variance analysis, and financial forecasting in coordination with the Managing Director
- Collaborating with ERP consultants and internal users for the ongoing configuration and optimization of the company’s ERP system, including setting up financial structures and reporting tools
- Supporting the financial needs of a growing field sales team, ensuring process alignment and visibility into costs and performance.
- Any other task that may be required from time to time
Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; Master’s degree is a plus
- A minim of 5 years of professional experience in financial controlling or related roles, ideally in commercial or trading companies
- Proven experience working in financial reporting and budgeting processes
- Familiarity with ERP systems – experience with SoftOne is preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and interaction with external accounting firms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; comfort with data analysis and report building
- Fluent in Greek with professional-level English communication skills
