Intellectica is seeking a highly motivated General Manager on behalf of a pioneering start-up dedicated to revolutionizing pediatric healthcare through cutting-edge newborn genome screening solutions. Backed by top-tier global investors and founded by a team of distinguished academic leaders and serial entrepreneurs, the company is at its pre-seed funding stage and poised for rapid growth. The company is establishing its global headquarters in Greece, where it will drive groundbreaking advancements in personalized medicine and early disease intervention in collaboration with leading pharmaceutical partners.
The General Manager shall serve as the company’s first employee and lead the company’s establishment in Greece. Reporting directly to the Founding Team, this pivotal role involves setting up operations from the ground up – including launching the company’s laboratory, building the local team, driving product and business development, and laying the foundation for long-term success. The ideal candidate will have a strong personal or professional connection to Greece and the entrepreneurial mindset needed to navigate the complexities of launching and scaling a high-impact healthcare venture. Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:
- Managing daily operations, optimizing workflows, and fostering cross-functional efficiency
- Establishing the company’s laboratory, ensuring full compliance with operational, legal, and industry standards
- Recruiting, leading, and mentoring a high-performing team to drive the company’s mission
- Developing and executing strategic growth plans to achieve key business objectives
- Overseeing product development, ensuring continuous innovation and alignment with market needs
- Implementing policies and processes to enhance operational effectiveness and scalability
- Developing and executing business development strategies to expand market presence and partnerships
- Building and nurturing relationships with clients, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders
- Managing budgets, financial planning, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal sustainability
- Continuously analyzing business performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and driving data-driven decision-making
- Ensuring full compliance with all legal, regulatory, and industry-specific requirements
- Providing regular reports and strategic insights to senior leadership and investors.

Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:
- Top-tier academic background, ideally combining a life sciences degree and holding an MBA from a prestigious business school
- At least 8 years of work experience with exposure to leadership roles; exposure to entrepreneurial ventures is considered a strong asset
- Experience from the healthcare or biotech industry is considered a strong plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Fluent in Greek and English; knowledge of additional languages is considered a plus
