Intellectica is recruiting a Health & Safety Lead on behalf of a leading pharmaceutical company based in Attiki, Greece. Reporting to the Health & Safety Principal, the selected candidate will drive the implementation of health, safety, and emergency response practices, ensuring full compliance with legal requirements and internal standards. The role also leads environmental and sustainability initiatives, focusing on enhancing environmental performance, resource efficiency, and overall impact. This position is responsible for monitoring compliance, driving continuous improvement across HSE practices, and embedding a strong culture of safety and sustainability across the organization.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Play a key role in advancing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) performance within a dynamic and sustainability-driven organization
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and engage with external stakeholders, including authorities, consultants, and service providers, to deliver high-impact sustainability initiatives
  • Partner with leadership to shape policies, roles, and systems, embedding Health & Safety and environmental excellence across the organization
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s environmental and sustainability strategy
  • Drive the implementation of Health & Safety practices across operations, fostering a safe and compliant working environment
  • Monitor environmental performance and risks, identifying opportunities for efficiency, sustainability, and impact reduction
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations and standards (e.g. ISO 14001), leading audits and driving corrective actions
  • Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis, ensuring proactive mitigation and continuous improvement
  • Design and deliver impactful Health & Safety programs, training, and emergency response plans that strengthen safety culture
  • Drive ESG reporting, coordinating data and supporting disclosures (e.g. Annual Reports, CDP, SBTi)
  • Any other task that may be required from time to time

Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field; degree with environmental focus will be considered a plus
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) roles
  • Strong experience in research, data analysis, and sustainability reporting
  • Solid understanding of sustainability standards and frameworks (e.g. GRI, SASB, CDP, SBTi, Global Compact, carbon footprinting, water stewardship)
  • Familiarity with Scope 3 emissions and/or Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights
  • Proven project management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities effectively
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental management systems (e.g. ISO 14001) and audit processes, with a strong passion for sustainability and environmental impact
  • Fluency in Greek with professional-level English communication skills
