Intellectica is recruiting an experienced Operations Director on behalf of a leading Greek Pharmaceutical Company with a 50-year presence in the field of generics drugs. Based in Attiki, Greece and reporting directly to the Managing Director, the successful candidate’s primary goal is to oversee the daily operations of the company, ensuring the seamless production of high-quality generic pharmaceuticals. The candidate will lead a diverse team, including the Production Manager, Engineering Manager, QC Manager, QA Director, and R&D Director, fostering a culture of efficiency, innovation, and compliance.
Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:
- Directing and overseeing the operations of the Production, Engineering, Quality Control & Assurance, and R&D departments
- Implementing strategies to maximize production output and minimize waste, incorporating lean methodologies and Six Sigma practices
- Coordinating maintenance and new projects with the Engineering Manager, ensuring all equipment and facilities are operating at optimal levels
- Oversee quality control and assurance processes, ensuring products meet regulatory standards and company quality benchmarks
- Oversee R&D initiatives by supporting the department in developing new products and improving existing formulas, aligning with company goals and market needs
- Fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment, organizing team efforts and ensuring all departments align with company objectives
- Champion agility and adaptability within the organization, responding effectively to changes in the market and industry trends
- Manage budgeting and resource allocation for the operations division, including overseeing the compensation package components of function employees
- Any other task that may be required from time to time
Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceuticals, or a related field; a related master’s degree or MBA as well as certifications such as Lean Six Sigma are considered a plus
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an Operations Director and total experience of 20+ years, in the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong preference for candidates who have overseen production engineering
- Proven track record of international work experience
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable;
- Fluent in English and Greek (both written and verbal)
