Intellectica is recruiting an experienced Transport Procurement Officer on behalf of Safi, a UK-based startup revolutionizing the recycling industry with data-driven AI. Backed by the most renowned ClimateTech investors in the US and the UK, Safi is on a mission to improve waste recovery rates and product quality. Based ideally in Greece or London with the ability to work remotely, the successful candidate will be the driving force in building a robust logistics operation that will effectively support the efforts of the Business Development team and ensure the delivery of high quality customer service. The candidate will be reporting to the company’s COO.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Ensuring the lowest average transport cost per tonne while achieving the highest customer satisfaction rate, outperforming competitors
  • Strategizing and supporting transport requirements, aligned with business needs, from Account Managers and Business Developers
  • Building, maintaining and managing relationships with new and existing partners (ocean carriers and freight forwarders), making escalations where required
  • Optimizing shipping using industry and logistics experience to deliver the best value for Safi
  • Building and writing SOPs/working documents, to be shared and agreed with partners
  • Defining and tracking KPIs to understand, manage and improve business and partner performance
  • Owning Weekly Business Reviews (WBRs) / Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) / Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with partners

The ideal candidate profile should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in logistics and operations management, preferably in the recycling or waste management industry
  • Deep knowledge of how carriers work and operate
  • Experience building pricing models and sheets to track price changes and identify opportunities for cost savings
  • “Black book” of freight industry contacts
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of other languages is considered a plus
